About Me

A mother through good times and bad

This is a blog about motherhood, parenting, and homemaking just like all the hundreds, if not thousands of mommy blogs out there. Except this also accounts to my reality that I have limitations and had setbacks even before I became a mother.

I will write my story about the awesomeness of being a mother through good times and bad.

It is not easy to take a good picture with a little toddler

Look at your fist and imagine it inside my body. That bad - I have a huge tumor in my right abdomen. I was strongly advised not to get pregnant. I was ready to live a life without a child, but God has something else planned for me.

Then, barely a week after giving birth, I had appendectomy and right hemicolectomy. Then right nephrostomy. And oh, for six months, a DJ stent was placed in my right urether. Terrible. It felt like the most cruel time of my life, but it was also the start of something incredibly beautiful.

Now I am a mother to a very active toddler. The tumor plus having a portion of my right intestine removed (and a somehow slow recovery) simply prohibit me from doing excessive physical activity. For my case, "excessive" already translates to the normal everyday activities of a wife and a stay-at-home mom to a little boy.

limited physical activity + toddler + trying to be my ideal homemaker = HOW DO I DO IT?

I am amazed myself how I have been surviving. I guess that's just the superpowers of being a mother.

Another thing to note is that we are a Filipino family in a foreign land. We are good and happy in Singapore, but home and families are in the Philippines. Help from them does not come in an instant. Granted, during my son's first year or so, we have family members come over to help us; now, it's just me. And Mon and Mateo.

So yeah, back to this blog. This will be my platform to tell my story. This will be personal - about my life as a mother and about my little Mateo (and okay, maybe Mon, too). This will be about my parenting principles and advocacies - breastfeeding, laid-back parenting (that's a thing, isn't it?), the trivial things about parenthood, and whatever may fancy my attention in the future. And since my son loves to eat, this will be about food, healthy eating, and recipes that I like.

Welcome to my world. :)
